Kyo, an aspiring director, organizes an independent stage production of Kenji Miyazawa’s 'Night on the Galactic Railroad' with the goal of turning his childhood friend, Maria, into a star. The cast he assembles is a collection of broken souls: a disgraced former actress, a pianist whose career was cut short by an accident, and an idol voice actor living under the shadow of the underworld. When 5 million yen vanishes from a private safe, the cast members become the prime suspects. As a detective arrives at the rehearsal studio to interrogate them one by one, the tension mounts—leading directly to the opening night of their performance.

演出家志望の青年・京は、幼馴染のマリアを女優にするため、自主公演を企画する。 演目は宮沢賢治『銀河鉄道の夜』。 スキャンダルで業界を追われた元人気女優、事故でキャリアを失ったピアニスト、裏社会に脅されているアイドル声優——集まったのは、全員が何かを抱えた人間たち。 そんな中、ある家の金庫から500万円が消える。 容疑者は、京が集めた出演者たち。 刑事が稽古場に乗り込み、一人ずつ尋問を始める。 全ての尋問が終わった時、舞台『銀河鉄道の夜』の幕が開く。
